Rules

Please note these rules are effective as of  November 17 2008.

 

GENERAL

1. These rules are subject to change at any time.

2. The race director/committees decision is final.

3. Racing starts at 7.30pm sharp no exceptions. There will be a 3min gap between each race and a 10min break at the end of each round. Races will not be delayed under any circumstances.

4. All drivers will be expected to marshal the race directly after their own, if they are not able to marshal it is the drivers responsibility to find a replacement for them. Failing to marshal could result in the loss of championship points.

5. Where possible all members are expected to help in the setup and take down of the track each race night.

6. Championship points are scored as follows,

                                    1st  - 10 points

                                    2nd - 8 points

                                    3rd - 7 points

                                    4th - 6 points

                                    5th - 5 points

                                    6th - 4 points

                                    7th - 3 points

                                    8th  to last - 2 points

                        Bonus 2 points for TQ in each class

7. Races will be run with min 3 entries and max 10 entries if there is a need for 2 heats in any class this will be organized by the race director at that time.

8. Participants can enter up to 3 classes on a race night but preference will be given to single entries when filling classes.

9. All heats  and finals will be run for 5 mins with the exception of novice which will be run for 4 mins. All heats will be timed staggered starts with finals being grid up races.

10. Unsportsmanlike like driving or behavior will not be tolerated.

 

RACING

1. Scrutineering may be carried out on any car at any time

2. No tampering with motors allowed.

3. Lipo batteries can be used in Stock and Modified classes. They can also be used in Mini class but only when not using brushless.

3. No traction compound is to be used in any class. (PCYC restricts use on carpet)

4. All batteries must be commercially available for hobby use with the manufacturers identification on either the unopened total pack or on each single cell.

 

 

NOVICE

?         Motors are to be silver can 540 or black can tamiya sports tuned motor.

?         Batteries to be 7.2v 6 cell pack with max 4600mah. No lipo.

?         Any 1/10th scale electric on-road car (touring, mini, RWD) may be used- these cars are to comply with these rules as well as those relating to the style of the vehicle.

?         Drivers only allowed to run in Novice class only- no cross entering allowed.

?         Drivers will start in novice and remain there until the race director believes they are advanced enough to race in the open classes.

 

TAMIYA MINI

?         Tamiya MO3, MO3M, MO3L & MO3R “Front Wheel Drive” chassis only.

?         Motor is to be silver can 540 or black can tamiya sports tuned motor. Brushless system can be used but MUST be the Hobbywing 13T Etched combo or a branded version, such as Yeah Racing. Max 35A ESC to be used.

?         Largest pinion to be run is 20 tooth.

?         Electronic speed controllers are open.

?         Only tamiya hopups permitted with the exception of 3 racing alloy hubs and hub carriers. All hopup parts must only be used for the purpose they are designed for.

?         Any rubber tyres, inserts and rims can be used provided they are Mini size (touring tyres and rims not allowed)

?         Any body may be used provided it was designed to fit the MO3 chassis. No extra wings can be used.

?         Minimum weight is 1300g race ready (including transponder).

?         Batteries are to be 7.2v 6 cell with max 4600mah With the exception of 5000mah venom stick pack. Lipo can be used only 2 cell and must not exceed 7.4V or 5000mah see rules for lipo charging

?         NO re-engineering or lightening of cars allowed.

 

540

?         Motor must be a silver can 540 motor.

?         Batteries to be 7.2v 6 cell with max 4600mah. Lipo can be used only 2 cells and must not exceed 7.4V or 5000mah see   rules for lipo charging.

?         All wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

?         All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring cars.

?         Max width of all cars 195mm.

?         Only one wing can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

?         Minimum weight is 1500g race ready (including transponder)

 

STOCK

?         Motors to be 27 turn roar stock motors or 17.5 brushless with a sintered rotor.

?         Batteries to be 7.2v 6 cell with max 4600mah. Lipo can be used only 2 cells and must not exceed 7.4V or 5000mah see rules for lipo charging.

?         All wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

?         All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring cars.

?         Max width of all cars 195mm.

?         Only one wing can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

?         Minimum weight is 1500g race ready (including transponder)

 

SUPER STOCK

?         Motors to be 19 turn roar stock motors or 10.5 OR 13.5 brushless with a sintered rotor.

?         Batteries to be 7.2v 5 or 6 cell with max 4600mah. Lipo can be used only 2 cells and must not exceed 7.4V or 5000mah see rules for lipo charging.

?         All wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

?         All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring cars.

?         Max width of all cars 195mm.

?         Only one wing can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

?         Minimum weight is 1500g for 6 cell and 1430g for 5 cell race ready (including transponder).

 

RULES FOR LIPO USE

·     Batteries must be factory sealed in a hard case that can withstand impacts as per ROAR testing procedures. No soft cased LiPo's allowed (for car battery).

·     No modifications are allowed to the case and/or the battery. Any physical distortion, denting, splitting of seams, puncturing or damage to the hard case of the LiPo battery will deem the LiPo battery to be ineligible for use.


Specifications

·     Must not exceed 7.4v – 5400mah.

·     Minimum rating of 20C .

 

Procedures for Charging and Use

 

·     Whilst charging and/or discharging, batteries must be contained in a LiPo sack or other device (fire mitigation device able to withstand and contain a destructive failure without showing a flame).

·     Electronic speed controls are to have either an inbuilt or an external cut-off electronic device installed that will not allow the battery to discharge below 6 volts minimum. It is up to the driver to prove that the cut-off is installed if in speed control.

·     LiPo capable chargers are only to be used. It is recommended that LiPo batteries are charged at a maximum charge rate of 1C.

·     Overcharging is not allowed (voltage higher than 8.4v).

 

If the rules dont say that you can do it than you cant do it.

The aim of our club is to have fun but to do it fairly, if we all follow these rules and race with sportsmanship than we will all have fun and exciting racing.
